No mining please, we're communities!

 

Environmental degradation is often what's left behind after the mining companies pack up and leave. Before large scale projects begin, communities must consider the consequences. Do the local jobs and short term revenues which a project will bring compensate for the negative impacts on local and indigenous communities, as well as the environment? Are the benefits sufficient to silence the opponents?
